The eight business unions in the Mato Grosso forestry sector filed for injunctions requiring the suspension of the list of minimum prices for timber products, issued by the state government, according to Ordinances 12/2005 and 52/2018. Two of them, the Val and Arinos Timber Industry Union (Simava) and the Far North Timber Union Union of the State of Mato Grosso (Simenorte) have already obtained a favorable injunction issued by the 1st Public Finance Court. As the state government has already been notified of the decision, the companies associated with these two unions do not have to follow the so-called ‘wood tariff’ as a parameter for the composition of the price of products, being able to practice market values. The court-ordered response is considered a victory for the forestry sector that had been trying unsuccessfully for several months to negotiate with the state government the extinction of the high price list, considered high and coolmath jacksmith out of market standards. “Although it is still up to the state to appeal, it is an extremely important decision for us as it paves the way for us to demonstrate that the industry needs and can be more competitive with other native wood producing states,” said Frank Rogieri, vice president of Simenorte .

The news was shared on Thursday (25), during a monthly meeting of the board of the Center of Wood Producing and Exporting Industries of the State of Mato Grosso (Cipem).

The meeting’s agenda also discussed the issue of the collection of VAT on the Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) from the log, pursuant to an agreement approved by the National Council of Finance Policy (Confaz), which authorized the state government to grant a reduction in the rate. It is noteworthy that companies under the Simples Nacional regime should have deferred this charge, but were paying 17% of ICMS on raw materials since the beginning of this year. With the publication of Confaz’s decision on July 10 this month, the percentage charged became 3%. Still, as the charge is in disagreement with the National Simple, it will be necessary to draft a new specific state law to definitively resolve the issue, which should be dealt with soon cool math run.

Another issue that relates to public policies related to the forest sector is regulation of Ordinances No. 32, of 01/23/19 and nº 229, of 01/25/19, published by the Ministry of Environment, which allow cutting and marketing. do Pequizeiro (Caryocar spp.) in the states that make up the Amazon biome. In order for the decision to be implemented in Mato Grosso, the state government must enact a law regulating these Ordinances, an action that is under the responsibility of the Civil House.

In addition, in the second half of August, there will be a traveling meeting of Cipem in Juína, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Northwest Mato Grosso (Simno) Woodworking and Furniture Industry Union, which will launch a book about its history.

The team from the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae-MT) presented the first inputs and results of the Madeira 4.0 Program activities, developed with entrepreneurs associated with Simno, Simenorte and Sindusmad. There is a concern with the participation of companies in the activities, as free specialized consultancies are offered for the development of the forestry business.
